Thursday, after a good nights rest, for most of us, we were up early and off to sightsee. We started at St. Paul's Cathedral. It lies in the heart of London. This building was constructed by Christopher Wren and is known for it's dome. The cathedral was dedicated to St. Paul and has stood on that site for over 1400 years.
We continued on to Westminister Abbey to see the glory and beauty of this church. The Abbey is what is known as a 'Royal Peculiar' because this was to be a plain church however the Queen at the time thought it should have more splendour so the Abbey was reconstructed to suit the Queen. This is where William and Kate were married.
The afternoon we were on our own. We stopped for a bite to eat at a Pub on our way to the London Eye. The London Eye is a huge Ferris wheel that rotates once every half hour. Each pod holds about 25 people and you get an awesome bird's eyeview of London from up there.
Like I said we were on our own so we were responsible to get ourself back to our hotel. We use the Tube and managed very well.
We had a great day.
