Heading to Lucerne via the Black Forest

We were headed south from the Heidelberg into the Black Forest.  The Black Forest is a mountainous region in southwest Germany, known for its dense evergreen forests and picturesque villages, which inspired some of the Brothers Grimm fairy tales.  The cuckoo clocks have been produced in this region since the 1700.  The craftsmen are farmers during the summer months and craftsmen during the winter months producing some amazing clocks.  We stopped at Drubba Clocks & Gifts: The Cuckoo Clock Demonstration...beautiful!

Some of the beautiful clocks for sale.

The intricacies of the clocks.  Amazing craftsmanship!

From here we headed toward the Swiss border.  We didn't need to show our passports, the bus driver was the only one having to go in and show them his driving log.  We continued on past Zurich and on to Schaffhausen to see the Rhine Falls, very beautiful countryside.  The Rhine Falls are the largest plain waterfall in Europe.  They are located on the Rhine River near the town of Schaffhausen.  The falls are 150m wide and 23m high.

The sight of the falls from the road in to them.

It was raining the entire way but stopped once we got there.  The sun felt so nice and made the falls even more impressive.

We continued on to Lucerne, Switzerland.
